BRIEF MINUTES OF THE COMMUNITY SERVICE/ FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE MEETING
TUESDAY 2ND OCTOBER AT BOWOOD GOLF CLUB

Present :- C. Murray. M.Callaway. D.Studd. I.Bowden.

A short meeting was convened after lunch to discuss fundraising during Ian Whitehead’s year 2007/2008. Ian had intimated that he would like us to raise money for a children’s charity and maybe organise a traditional country fair sometime next spring/summer.

Chris Murray said that it would be nice to raise £1000. to be split between Ian’s children’s charity and other Rotary charities.

Mike Callaway and Chris Murray both said that it was very similar to the old Pongo Day which took up a great deal of time and effort to organise and was very reliant on the weather on the day. It was thought that this type of event had run its course.

Ian Bowden and Mike Callaway suggested that sponsorship was the quickest way to raise money and several ideas where banded around to include a Sponsored walk and Car treasure hunt. Also, a Race Night was suggested.

It was left that the committee would think on the ideas put forward and discuss the matter further plus any other ideas at the next meeting.

Suggest next meeting after lunch on Tuseday 30th October.
